Photography Exhibit In New Rochelle Features Images Of Journey

NEW ROCHELLE, N. Y. -- The works of 17 Westchester photographers are on display in New Rochelle in a new exhibit called "A Photographic Journey From Here And Beyond."

The Lazarus Gallery at United Hebrew of New Rochelle is inviting viewers to experience journey through 37 photographs from all over the world. The display runs through Sept. 9 at the gallery at United Hebrew, 391 Pelham Road.

An opening reception is planned for 3-4:30 p.m. April 17 at the gallery. The reception is free and open to the public.

The 37 photographs were selected from more than 100 submissions from members of the Color Camera Club of Westchester. Some of the images include a koala bear in Australia, a lion trio in Tanzania, the Coney Island boardwalk and Grand Central's main hall.

The photographers with work on display are: Sidney Auerbach, Yoredvi Batista, Rinku Bhattacharya, Susan Cember, Jennifer Dooley, Heidi Fuhrman, Richard Getler, Carolyn Glickstein, Marvin Klein, James F. Lasser, Bob Plotkin, Phyllis Schreckinger, H. David Stein, Jessica Stelling, Karen Ann Sullivan, Dennis Thornton, and Linda Trummer-Napolitano. 

United Hebrew officials say the exhibit was meant to evoke memories and help residents make a connection between art and their lives. United Hebrew offers assisted living, rehabilitation and skilled nursing care.

“When you see these images, they can’t help but spark your imagination and your memories,” said Rita Mabli, United Hebrew president and CEO.

The camera club is made up of professional and amateur photographers from throughout Westchester. The exhibition is free and open to the public daily, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
