NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — New York City native Peter Hand will bring his jazz quartet to Roscoe's Room at Alvin & Friends for a performance on Friday.
Since earning a Bachelor of Music degree at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Hand has spent the last 38 years recording and arranging music as a jazz guitarist and big band leader.
Hand's travels have seen him dabble in a handful of genres, including jazz, Latin jazz, Caribbean bands, Latin and Brazilian music. He has also formed just about every type of group imaginable to a jazz performer: trio, quartet, quintet, nonet, 10-piece band and the Peter Hand Big Band
The Peter Hand Quartet comes to New Rochelle in support of its latest CD, 2014's "Out Of Hand." Other quartet members include James Weidman on piano, Harvie S on bass and Steve Johns on drums, with Hand on guitar.
Hand also has a history in the area, having formed the nonprofit Westchester Jazz Orchestra in 2002, which doubles as a big band and educational organization featuring local artists.
The concert begins at 8 p.m., and there is a $15 cover charge.
Alvin & Friends is at 14 Memorial Highway.
