The organization also is rebuilding homes in Breezy Point and the Rockaways in Queens.
Habitat Executive Director Jim Killoran said that everyone deserves a home on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
““This is the most important day of the year,” he said. “As we kicked off our 25th anniversary, we see the results of Sandy with 30,000 families still out of their homes. Many in Westchester County have been denied affordable, decent housing. To that end, we build.”
Several organizations are helping Habitat for Humanity in the efforts, including:
- Obama Inaugural Committee
- Clinton Global Initiative/Clinton Foundation
- Temple Israel
- Shiloh Baptist Church
- Iona College
- Huntington High School
- Beth El Synagogue Center
- Holy Family Church
- College of New Rochelle
