NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – A-Game Sports, the New Rochelle sports instruction clinic that ran a wildly successful baseball camp at Flowers Field this summer, is expanding their enterprise, and will now include soccer and basketball academies for athletes who get the sports bug during the winter.
Beginning in January, A-Game Sports – the brainchild of former city slickers Kevin Plein and Darin Feldman, who swapped their dress shoes for cleats – will include soccer and basketball clinics that will be led from some of the top local athletes that have played and coached at a professional level.
Registration is currently open for the boys and girl’s Nothing But Net basketball academy, which kicks off on Monday, Jan. 12 for kids between 7 and 15 years old. The camp will include 50-minute sessions every Monday after school at the Henry Barnard School in New Rochelle.
The Nothing But Net camp will be run by former New Rochelle High School basketball standout Aaron Williams, who has spent time playing professionally in the ABA domestically and with FIBA overseas.
The Fast and Furious Soccer Academy, for children between 4 and 11-years-old, will be at the same location every Saturday. Mark McKelvie, a former professional soccer coach in Scotland, will head the soccer camp. His training sessions will include team training, one-on-one, recreational games and goalkeeping instruction.
According to an A-Game Sports statement, "their staff consists not only of former collegiate stars and elite athletes, but also of educators and highly talented recreational players who are experienced in working with children."
"They know the value and impact that sports can have on children's physical and emotional development. Kids are taught valuable life skills and principles that can be applied later on their lives both personally and professionally."
Registration for the A-Game Sports winter soccer and basketball camps can be completed online before they kick off next month.
