Ramp Closures Announced On Southern, Wantagh State Parkway Two ramps will be closed on Long Island’s Southern State Parkway, transportation officials said. Starting on Thursday, Sept. 21, the following ramps on the Southern and Wantagh State Parkways will be closed, according to the New York Department of Transportation: The Exit W4E ramp from southbound Wantagh Parkway to eastbound Southern Parkway. The Exit 27N ramp from eastbound Southern Parkway to northbound Wantagh Parkway. State Trooper Hospitalized In Wantagh State Parkway Crash A New York State Police trooper was hospitalized after being involved in a two-car crash on Wantagh Parkway on Long Island. A trooper patrolling the parkway at approximately noon on Thursday, Aug. 6 was involved in a collision just south of exit W2 in the town of Hempstead in his police cruiser. According to New York State Police, the trooper was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries suffered during the crash. Wantagh Parkway Crash Kills Driver, Seriously Injures Passenger One person was killed and another seriously injured during a single-vehicle crash on Long Island. The crash took place in Nassau County around 2:45 p.m., Wednesday, June 3, on the Wantagh Parkway and Goose Creek Bridge in Wantagh, said New York State Police Trooper Daniel Ahlgrim. According to Ahlgrim, the vehicle was traveling southbound on the parkway when the vehicle crashed.
