Covid-19: Long Island Sees Nearly 2,700 New Cases, Another Increase In Infection Rate Long Island saw a new increase in the COVID-19 positive infection rate, along with nearly 2,700 newly reported cases, according to data released by the New York State Department of Health on Sunday, Jan 3.  There were 1,516 new cases in Suffolk County and another 1,166 in Nassau for a total of 2,682. The positive infection rate on Long Island the last six days is as follows.
