New Update: Worker Killed In Trench Collapse At Long Island Home This story has been updated. A worker has died following a trench collapse at a home on Long Island. Emergency crews were called at around 2:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8 for a collapse at a property in Smithtown, located in the village of Head of the Harbor on Piper Lane. Suffolk County Police said an employee with Copiague-based Darius Masonry was installing cesspool rings at the home when he entered the hole to level the ring.  While he was down in the hole, the excavated dirt collapsed on top of him, burying him in approximately ten feet of soil. Person Dies After Pickup Truck Bursts Into Flames On Long Island An investigation is underway surrounding the circumstances of a person's death during a vehicle fire on Long Island overnight. Suffolk County Police officers responded to the blaze in East Setauket on Friday, Aug.18 at around 11:10 p.m. on the north shoulder, west of 445 Route 25A. The Setauket Fire Department extinguished the fire and a body was discovered inside the 2004 Dodge pickup. ID Released For Long Island Cemetery Worker Killed In Accident Police detectives investigating the death of a cemetery employee who was killed while working in a grave have released the victim's identity. Rodwin Allicock, age 42, of Coram, was at the bottom of a grave, which was more than 7 feet deep when the incident happened at Washington Memorial Park in Mount Sinai when the grave collapsed at approximately 8:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 25, said the Suffolk County Police. Officer Hospitalized After Evacuating Couple During Long Island House Fire A police officer was hospitalized with smoke inhalation after he entered a burning Long Island home to evacuate a couple inside. The blaze broke out just before 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2 in Selden. The officer, Sean Kalletta, of the Suffolk County Police Department, entered the burning home on Abinet Court and found two residents attempting to rescue their two dogs.  Kalletta escorted Robert Baker, 55, and his wife Debra Baker, 51, out of their home and attempted to rescue the dogs, according to police.  One of the dogs bit the officer, who was transported to Stony Brook Univ…
