Suffolk County Auxiliary Police Captain Jamorn Chindananta saw smoke coming from his neighbor's house on Baeck Street in Ronkonkoma at about 9:45 a.m. on Sunday, May 1, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.  SCPD said Chindananta spoke to a resident of the home in the garage, who told him her dogs were still in the house. Long Island Railroad Service Suspended After Person Struck By Train The Long Island Railroad temporarily suspended service in both directions on its Ronkonkoma branch after a person was struck by a train, officials said. At approximately 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2, the LIRR announced that eastbound and westbound service was temporarily halted on the branch after a person was hit by a train near the Wyandanch station.
