Fire Rips Through Long Island Home A Long Island home was destroyed by a fire that started on the front deck and moved inside.  The blaze broke out in Ridge around 8:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 20 at 68 Ridge Road. According to Ridge Fire Chief Wesley Phillips, when firefighters arrived on the scene the front deck was on fire and flames were rolling over the roof and up the front of the home. Firefighters quickly accounted for residents which included the owner, who is seven months pregnant, and a cat, as well as a basement apartment renter. Woman Seriously Injured After Long Island House Fire Breaks Out Police on Long Island are investigating after a fire seriously injured a woman. The blaze broke out around 5:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 20, at a home on Manhasset Trail in Ridge, said the Suffolk County Police. One woman, who lives at the home, was transported by the Ridge Fire Department to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, police said. Another resident in the home was not injured.  The cause of the fire is under investigation but appears to be non-criminal, police said.

ID Released For Motorcyclist Killed In Two-Vehicle Crash On Long Island A 26-year-old Suffolk County motorcyclist killed during a two-vehicle crash on Route 25A in Ridge has been identified. Kodi Zwolinski, of Ridge, was driving a Suzuki motorcycle eastbound on Route 25A, just east of the William Floyd Parkway, when his motorcycle rear-ended a 2001 Ford pickup driven by Marie Panhorst at approximately 12:20 p.m., Thursday, May 16, said the Suffolk County Police. Zwolinski was transported by Ridge Fire Department Rescue to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead where he was pronounced dead, police said. Panhorst, 54, of Mastic Beach, was uninjured.
