Long Island Man Critical After Stabbing, Police Say A Long Island man was charged with assault after he allegedly stabbed another man with a large knife leaving the victim in critical condition.  The incident took place in Riverhead around 10:45 p.m., Monday, July 18 in the area of Griffing Avenue and West Main Street. The attack was discovered when a Riverhead officer spotted some kind of dispute between two men on the street, said Det. Richard Freeborn, of the Riverhead Police.
