It happened just before noontime Friday, Oct. 6 in Copiague. A man was walking southbound across eastbound Sunrise Highway (Route 27), at 35th Street, when he was struck by an eastbound 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Suffolk County Police said. The man, who has not yet been identified by police, was pronounced dead at the scene by an EMT with the Copiague Fire Department.  The driver of the Jeep, a 19-year-old Massapequa man, was not injured. 46-Year-Old Killed In Crash At Long Island Intersection One person was killed in an overnight crash at a Long Island intersection. It happened around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29 in Brentwood. A 46-year-old man was walking northbound in the roadway on Crooked Hill Road, at Sagtikos State Parkway, when he was struck by a northbound 2021 Honda, Suffolk County Police said. Man Charged For Fatal Co-Op City Hit-Run Crash Police have arrested a Hudson Valley man who allegedly struck and killed a 76-year-old woman in New York City and then fled the scene. Orange County resident Vincent Francis, age 62, of Monroe, was arrested on Wednesday, March 23 in connection with the crash, said the NYPD. The crash took place in Co-op City in the Bronx on Tuesday, March 7 when Francis was driving a dump truck south on the Hutchinson River Parkway East when he made a left turn onto Einstein Loop and struck Lola Blair while she was crossing the roadway, NYPD said.  Francis then fled the scene, police said. The crash took place around 5 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2, on the northbound side of Route 110 northbound in East Farmingdale, said the Suffolk County Police. Man Killed In Hit-Run Long Island Expressway Crash Police are attempting to locate the driver who struck and killed a pedestrian on the Long Island Expressway The man walking on the shoulder of the westbound lanes of the Expressway was struck at approximately 5:15 a.m. near exit 19 in Elmhurst, Queens, on Monday, Sept. 28.
