Man Assaults East Meadow Nurse Caring For Him, Police Say A Long Island nurse caring for a patient soon had to be cared for by other hospital staff after a patiently allegedly assaulted her, police said. On Sunday, Sept. 17, 35-year-old Fidel Velasquez of East Meadow was being treated at Nassau University Medical Center, according to the Nassau County Police. At approximately 11 p.m., he allegedly began to assault the 35-year-old nurse whose care he was under at the time.
