80 Passengers Evacuated After Train Misses Hitting Car On Tracks In Nassau An LIRR train missed hitting an empty vehicle stopped on the tracks but caused some 80 passengers to take a bus to their destination. The incident took place around 10:34 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21, when a train out of Penn Station headed for Hempstead,  reported an automobile on the tracks near Stewart Manor, said Michael Cortez, spokesman for the MTA. Person Struck, Killed By Train On Long Island An unidentified person was struck and killed by a train on the Long Island Railroad. The person, who was on the tracks, was struck around 6:40 a.m., Monday, Oct. 19, east of Brentwood, said MTA Spokesman Michael Cortez. Service was suspended between Ronkonkoma and Hicksville during the recovery efforts. Service was restored at approximately 8 a.m., with residual delays lasting up to 90 minutes, Cortez said.  No criminality is suspected, he added.
