Man Seriously Injured After Being Hit By Vehicle In Merrick A 46-year-old man crossing a Long Island roadway suffered serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle. The incident took place around 8:20 p.m., Thursday, March 12 in Merrick, said the Nassau County Police. According to detectives, the man was crossing Merrick Road when he was struck by a 2007 Mercury Milan that was traveling eastbound on Merrick Road near the intersection of Central Parkway.  The victim was transported by the Merrick Fire Department to an area hospital with serious injuries.  The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. Pedestrian Suffers Severe Head Trauma After Being Struck By Car In Nassau A pedestrian was critically injured after being hit by a car on Long Island. The incident occurred around 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9 in Merrick, Nassau County Police said. According to police, a 2012 Mazda operated by a 43-year-old woman struck a 66-year-old male pedestrian in the vicinity of 2129 Merrick Road as he stepped into the right westbound traffic lane.  The male victim suffered severe head trauma and was transported in a Nassau County Police Ambulance to a local nearby hospital for treatment. The victim is listed in critical condition. The investigation is ongoing.
