Duo Nabbed Following Reports Of Gunshots At Eisenhower Park: Police Two Long Island men have been arrested in connection with an incident involving shots fired at a local park. On Sunday, June 4 at approximately 8:15 p.m., Nassau County Police officers initially responded to Eisenhower Park, located at 1899 Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow, on a claim of shots fired. Officers observed 34-year-old LaMichael Taylor, of Rockville Centre, fleeing the park, hopping a fence, and running south on Merrick Avenue towards Hempstead Turnpike. One ticket was purchased at Guinta’s Meat Farms on Portion Road in Suffolk County in Ronkonkoma and the other at MAB Finer Wines and Spirits on Merrick Avenue in Nassau County in East Meadow, according to the New York Lottery. ID Released For Man Struck, Killed By Car On Nassau County Roadway The identity has been released of a man who was killed after being struck by a car on a Long Island roadway. The incident happened around 10 p.m., Monday, Sept. 13, in East Meadow. A 34-year-old man was driving a 2000 Honda westbound on Hempstead Turnpike in the vicinity of Merrick Avenue and struck the man walking on the roadway,  Nassau County Police said. The man, now identified as Rolando Lopez, age 35, of East Meadow, suffered severe head trauma and was pronounced dead, police said. The driver remained at the scene.  The investigation is ongoing.

Uzair Khan, 18, of East Meadow, and Matthew Hartenstein, 19, of Brooklyn, allegedly broke into the E-Smoke Shop on Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow at approximately 3:15 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, Nassau County Police said. The crash happened after the SUV collided with a sedan near the intersection of Merrick Avenue and Prospect Avenue around 7 p.m. Friday, June 28, then went through the front lawn before hitting the house. The sedan crashed into a wall near an office building. First responders extricated the drivers of both vehicles. All of the injuries have been described as non-life-threatening.
