The crash took place in Lynbrook around midnight Tuesday, Nov. 29, on Ocean Avenue. According to Nassau County Police, a 2009 BMW driven by the 19-year-old man was traveling southbound on Ocean Avenue when it was in hit a Nissan Pathfinder. Man Barricades Himself Inside Nassau County Home, Sets Fire, Police Say A Long Island man was charged after allegedly barricading all of the doors of his home and then setting it on fire while inside. Kevin Meyer, 31, of East Rockaway, was charged Monday, March 30, with various crimes following the event that took place around 11:49 a.m. on Elbert Place, said the Nassau County Police. According to detectives, Meyer, while alone in his home, intentionally set fire to the residence and called 911. Details Emerge After Fire Rips Through Row Of Nassau County Stores New details have been released after an early morning four-alarm fire damaged several businesses at a Long Island shopping plaza. The fire started around 2:40 a.m., Friday, Nov. 22 in Cedarhurst when Nassau County Police called the Lawrence Cedarhurst Fire Department reporting smoke coming from the building. The building, located at 604 Central Avenue, is home to a yogurt and ice cream store, a dry cleaner, pharmacy, and a pizza restaurant.  Officers responded to the building within minutes and were met by an employee who opened one of the businesses.
