Kevin Lopez-Morales, age 23, of Roosevelt, was sentenced on Tuesday, Aug. 31, to 24 years to life in prison, Acting Nassau County District Attorney Joyce Smith announced. Carlos Alfaro, 22, of Roosevelt, will be arraigned Wednesday, Feb. 19,  with two counts of second-degree murder, said the Nassau County Police. According to detectives, Alfaro is responsible for the 2016 murder of Josue Amaya Leonor, 19, whose body was found in 2018 in a wooded area of the Roosevelt Preserve during an investigation by the Homicide Squad, along with Homeland Security investigators.
