SUV Strikes, Kills Person Walking On Sunrise Highway A person was fatally struck by an SUV while walking on a stretch of Sunrise Highway (Route 27). The crash happened in the eastbound lanes near Hospital Road in East Patchogue at about 5 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 5, the Suffolk County Police Department said. SCPD said a 53-year-old Hampton Bays man was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Traverse and struck 62-year-old Juliann McSweeney, of East Patchogue, who was walking in the left lane. Long Island Woman Seriously Injured After Blown Tire Leads To Crash A 37-year-old Long Island woman was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on Sunrise Highway. The crash happened on the westbound Sunrise Highway (Route 27) near Hospital Road in East Patchogue at about 6:45 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, according to the Suffolk County Police Department. ID Released For 27-Year-Old Killed In Hit-Run Long Island Crash Police have identified a man killed during a hit and run crash on the Sunrise Highway on Long Island. Joseph Logue, 27, of Bellport was hit and killed east of Hospital Road, in East Patchogue, at approximately 6 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, when he was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene, said the Suffolk County Police. Logue was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
