Three Firefighters Injured After Blaze Breaks Out At Woodmere Home Three firefighters were injured battling a blaze at a Long Island home. The fire broke out in Woodmere around 4:15 p.m., Monday, July 25.at an unoccupied residence located at 227 Mosher Ave.  Upon arrival, responders discovered the home engulfed in flames, Nassau County Police said. The Woodmere Fire Department was joined in battling the blaze by the Lawrence-Cedarhurst, Hewlett, Inwood, and Valley Stream fire departments, who were able to extinguish the fire, police said. Dog Rescued From Partially Frozen Nassau County Pond A dog was rescued after it fell into a partially frozen Long Island pond. The incident occurred on Sunday, Feb. 7 at around 9 a.m. in Hewlett, at Grant Park, located at 1625 Broadway.  Responding Nassau County Police officers located the dog’s owner and were able to locate the golden retriever, Lucky, who was struggling to stay afloat.  Hewlett Fire Department responded to the scene.  Rescue swimmers from the fire department were deployed and they were able to safely reach and rescue Lucky.  The dog was transported to an area animal hospital for evaluat…

Kevin Meyer, 31, of East Rockaway, was charged Monday, March 30, with various crimes following the event that took place around 11:49 a.m. on Elbert Place, said the Nassau County Police. Nassau County Police officers responded to the Keystone Yacht Club in Woodmere at approximately 7:15 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22, when there was a report of a boat on fire in the water.
