Police: Long Island Motorcyclist Driving Through Red Light Killed After Crash With Uber A motorcyclist who ran a red light was killed overnight in a crash involving a Uber on Long Island, police said. It happened around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 1 in Huntington Station at the intersection of Jericho Turnpike and Melville Road, Suffolk County Police said. Gerson Mendez-Cruz, 20, of Greenlawn, was operating a 2004 Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound on Jericho Turnpike when he rode through a red light at the intersection of Melville Road and collided with the Uber, police said.
