Long Island Man Seriously Injured When Firework Explodes In Hand
A Long Island man was seriously injured while lighting a firework. The incident happened Saturday, July 4 at 9:15 p.m.in Central Islip. Brandon James, 29, of Brookhaven, suffered the hand injury while lighting a firework at a home located on Tamarack Street, Suffolk County Police said. He was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Man Seriously Injured By Fireworks At Long Island Residence
A man was seriously injured by fireworks in an overnight July 4th incident on Long Island. The incident happened Saturday, July 4 at approximately 10:05 p.m. in Port Jefferson Station. Calros Diaz, 29, was attending a family gathering in the backyard of the residence located on Robert Court when he attempted to light a mortar-style firework, Suffolk County Police said. The device exploded, striking Diaz in the face and severely injuring one of his eyes.
