'Beacon Of Light': EMT ID'd As Victim In Deadly 2-Vehicle Crash On Long Island First responders and local leaders are pouring out condolences for a beloved EMT who was killed in a late-night car crash on Long Island. The wreck happened at around 12:15 a.m. Monday, April 15, in Bay Shore near the intersection of 5th Avenue and Spur Drive North. Suffolk County Police said a 32-year-old Bay Shore man was driving a Volkswagen sedan northbound on 5th Avenue when he tried making a left turn onto Spur Drive North. Special Delivery: Baby Born With Help Of Nassau County Police When a Long Island mother went into active labor at home, police officers and medics rushed to her aid and were able to help deliver her baby safely. At 8:55 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, Nassau County police responded to an East Meadow home for a call about a woman in labor. When First Precinct Officers Joseph Tuffarelli and Chris Makastchian arrived, they saw that the 34-year-old wasn’t just in active labor, but was moments away from having her baby. Boater Injured By Propeller After Leaving Boat In Gear, Police Say A 57-year-old man suffered serious injuries after he was struck by the propeller of an 18-foot boat that he had rented for the day in Great Peconic Bay off Laurel. The incident took place around 2:40 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 20, when the man, identified as Stefan Palm, a visitor from Germany, entered the water to take a turn on a water tube and failed to realize that the boat had been left in gear, said the Southhold Police Department. 16-Year-Old Airlifted To Hospital After Hitting Head In Massapequa Pool A 16-year-old was airlifted to the hospital after hitting his head in a backyard pool at a home on Long Island. It happened in Massapequa around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, Nassau County Police said. Officers responded to a report of a boy who was injured while diving into a pool and hitting his head on the bottom.  Upon police arrival, officers observed the victim lying by the side of the pool after his friends pulled him out.
