Animal Cruelty: Dog Dies After Being Left In Crate Nearly Week By Long Island Woman, Police Say A Long Island woman is facing animal cruelty charges after her dog died several days after it was reportedly abandoned. Kiswanda Franklin, age 33, of Huntington Station, was arrested Wednesday, Sept. 13, according to Suffolk County Police. Investigators said Franklin left her three-pound Yorkshire Terrier-Maltese mix in a crate inside her East Pulaski Road apartment for six days beginning on Friday, July 14.  The animal did not have adequate ventilation, police said. When Franklin returned, the dog was dead. 19-Year-Old Exchange Student Seriously Injured After Being Struck By Vehicle On Long Island A 19-year-old exchange student was seriously injured after being struck by a car overnight on Long Island. It happened on Friday, Dec. 13 at approximately 10:40 p.m. in Huntington Station. Sung Hyun Bae was walking in the middle of the roadway in front of 109 East Pulaski Road with two other pedestrians when he was struck by an eastbound 2019 Dodge sedan, Suffolk County Police said.
