Storm Knocks Out Power To Thousands On Long Island A quick-moving storm system has knocked out power to thousands on Long Island. Wind gusts as high as around 60 miles per hour have resulted in downed trees and tree limbs in both Suffolk and Nassau counties, with Suffolk more heavily affected. As of 7 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, PSEG Long Island is reporting a total 182 outages, with 8,237 customers now without power. Most of the outages are on the East End, with a total of 7,714 outages in Suffolk County and 521 in Nassau.
