10 Rescued From Sinking Boat Off Nassau County Coast Nearly a dozen passengers were pulled to safety from a boat that was sinking off the northern coast of Long Island. The incident happened around 8:40 p.m. Saturday, July 25,  in Half Moon Bay off of Sands Point in Nassau County. According to Nassau County Police Marine Bureau Officers, while on routine patrol, Marine 8 observed a 21-foot vessel operating and taking on waves over its bow. Video: Trapped Woman, Six Others Rescued From Capsized Boat On Long Island Sound First responders saved seven passengers who were in a boat that capsized on the Long Island, including one woman who was trapped under the vessel and tangled in fishing gear. Police released a video showing the daring rescue on Sunday, June 9, which shows the divers who were deployed from a helicopter and found a female victim in an air pocket under the boat.
