Property Damaged At Long Island Mosque
A religious flag was burned and graffiti was written on the base of a flag outside a Long Island mosque, police said. The Suffolk County Police Hate Crimes Unit and Arson Section reported that at approximately 2 a.m. on Monday, May 17, the vandalism was found at the Islamic Center of Suffolk County in Brentwood on 3rd Street, prompting an investigation. Police said that they are unaware of any nearby surveillance video of the suspect damaging the mosque. Man Accused Of Setting Fire To Long Island Hotel
A man has been charged with arson after police say he set fire to a Long Island hotel. Suffolk County Police say Raymond Pond, 50, started the fire inside the Rodeway Inn in Huntington Station, located at 270 West Jericho Turnpike, at approximately 5:30 p.m. Saturday, July 4. Second Precinct officers responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. Several people were on the premises at the time of the fire. There were no injuries. 28-Year-Old Dies In Long Island House Fire
A 28-year-old man was killed after a house fire broke out on Long Island overnight. It happened Sunday, May 17 at around 3:10 a.m. in Lindenhurst. Suffolk County Police First Precinct officers responded to the home at 596 North Kings Ave. after a 911 caller reported a fire at the location. Upon police arrival, two residents, a man and woman, had escaped the home, according to police.
