Officers responded to the residence in Merrick on Saturday, Feb. 22 around 2:20 p.m., according to Nassau County Police.
According to detectives, police were dispatched for an aided call to a residence on Lindgren Street for a 58-year old woman who was unresponsive.
Upon arrival, the victim was pronounced dead by a Nassau County Police Medic.
On Sunday, Feb. 23, John Gerges, 60, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder following the altercation that occurred with the victim, now identified as 58-year-old Marvat Gerges, police said.
John Gerges is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Monday, Feb. 24.
