A threatening letter received by an employee with the Nassau Board of Elections office in Mineola caused an evacuation of the office due to a perceived threat, Nassau County Police said.
The incident began around 11:57 a.m., Monday, April 29, at 240 Old County Road, when police were alerted to a "threat."
Police say the "immediate area was evacuated," and emergency response units and detectives are on the scene.
Following a search of the area, and the building, no threat was found, police said.
The election's office remained closed as detectives continue their investigation, they added.
