On Wednesday, June 26, Nassau County Police welcomed 59 new officers and four new police medics who graduated from the academy following a rigorous training regimen.

Having graduated, some of the new officers and medics will be assigned to the Nassau County Police Department while others will begin their police careers in local city and village police departments throughout Long Island.

The graduates join “one of the most service-oriented departments in the nation (with) more than 200 marked patrol units operating from precincts throughout the county.”

According to the department, “we are actively seeking individuals from diverse backgrounds and disciplines to join our ranks. We employ police officers who are also accountants, pilots, computer programmers, lawyers, and school teachers, to name a few. We invite and encourage men and women with the talent and experience that drive or support every type of business or profession to become a part of our force.”
