A pair of Long Island residents were hospitalized when an early morning fire broke out in Massapequa.

First responders were dispatched to a Michele Terrace home in Massapequa at approximately 9:50 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18, where there was a report of a house fire.

Fire officials said that the fire started in the kitchen, and first responders were able to contain the blaze to just the one room. The fire was declared under control after approximately 30 minutes.

All occupants of the house were able to evacuate, though two were transported to the Nassau University Medical Center by the Massapequa Fire Department and Nassau County Police Ambulances for evaluation as a precaution.

The kitchen suffered extensive smoke and water damage, which was mostly contained.

The Massapequa Fire Department received an assist from the Amityville Fire Department and South Farmingdale Fire Department.

Officials said the cause of the fire is under investigation. Check Daily Voice for updates.
