A stretch of the Long Island Expressway has reopened after an hours-long closure that started during the height of the evening commute after a serious crash.
The closure, announced around 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, was for all westbound lanes near Exit 63 in Holtsville in Suffolk County.
The on-ramp to the LIE at North Ocean Avenue was also shut down.
Just after 9 p.m., Suffolk County Police announced the reopening of the lanes.
