According to the article on ConnectingDirectors.com which reports daily funeral industry news, information, and trends, Joanne Cullen seeks $5 million for the "cracked tooth and recurring nightmares" she suffered on a cemetery visit in December 2016.
In the incident, Cullen reportedly bent down at the headstone of her parents to fix a wreath when she sunk hip-deep into the soil, said the Connecticut Directors.com article.
Cullen allegedly struck her head on the stone and the tooth cracked when she tried to get steady, said the article.
It was reportedly dusk when this happened and nobody was around to call upon for help, according to the report.
Cullen's lawsuit alleges she has repeated nightmares and needs counseling, and cannot go back to the cemetery because of this, said Connecting Directors.
The woman's lawyer who is cited in the article believes the sinkhole cause is related to backfilling of an adjacent gravesite, leaving a void, the article said.
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn is owner and operator of St.Charles Resurrection Cemetery.
