Man Threatens To Shoot, Blow Up Long Island High School, Police Say

A Long Island resident has been accused of threatening to cause mass harm at a local school.

The man called the Half Hollow Hills East High School, located in Dix Hills, on Tuesday, April 9, and threatened to shoot and blow up the school, Suffolk County Police said.

Second Precinct Crime Section officers arrested the man near his residence in Patchogue at approximately 3:40 p.m. Thursday, April 11.

Christopher Ryan, age 42, was charged with making a threat of mass harm, a Class B Misdemeanor. 

He was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday, April 12.
