A new Italian restaurant that opened on Long Island in September is off to a strong start thanks partly to its homemade pasta and interesting Italian and Sicilian-American dishes.

Sandro's Italian, located in Manhasset, is a small restaurant that opened in the old BLVD 25 spot with a menu that offers something for everyone's taste.

It's gotten the eye of foodies and Yelpers alike with many offering five-star reviews for such dishes as Sicilian-style eggplant and their chicken, fish, and veal dishes that range from Marsala-style to Milanese-style.

Some favorites include the Bucatini and clams with manila clams, Calabrian chili, parsley, extra virgin, as well as the Rigatoni Rocco, featuring a spicy vodka sauce.

Others go for the squid ink pasta and the pasta with truffles.

One customer offered this review: "Beautiful ambiance, delicious authentic Italian cuisine with many daily specials. Impressive wine list. Will definitely be a returning customer."

The restaurant is cozy, with 60-seats upstairs, along with a small bar, room-length banquettes, and a few outdoor tables.

The vibe is very chill and the dress code is casual, even though the food is anything but.

The prices are moderate to a bit pricey, but remember all of the pasta and sauces are made in-house.

Reservations are suggested.

The restaurant is located at 1496 Northern Blvd., Manhasset.
