Suspicious White Powder Sent To Election Offices Across Country — Including NY
A package with a suspicious white substance was intercepted at a United States Post Office in Connecticut earlier this week and could be part of a much larger scheme to disrupt or scare election workers ahead of election day, authorities said.
The package was found at a West Hartford post office on Monday, Sept. 16, the Connecticut Secretary of State said in a news release. No one was injured, but the contents were sent to a lab for testing.

Marketing Director From Hudson Valley Dies At Age 41
A marketing director who grew up in the Hudson Valley has died at the age of 41.
Connecticut resident Thomas Tavino, of West Hartford, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 4, according to his obituary.
Tavino was born in Putnam County, in the town of Carmel, and was a graduate of Brewster High School.
He earned a bachelor's degree from Marist College and went on to work as senior director of marketing for Takeda Pharmaceuticals, his obituary said.
"He was an avid Mets fan, he had a passion for cooking, and enjoyed golf and blackjack," his obituary reads.

A co-owner of Frank Pepe's, ranked No. 1 on Daily Meal's list of the 101 best pizzerias in America each of the last three years, has died.
Gary Bimonte died on Wednesday, April 7.
Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana, which has 12 locations in the Northeast (in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, and Rhode Island), announced his death on the Facebook page of its flagship New Haven location and said the New Haven location would be closed Thursday, April 8.
Neither the circumstances surrounding his death nor his age have been immediately released.

1.9 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Connecticut

A minor 1.9-magnitude earthquake struck in the Hartford area at 1:14 a.m., Friday, March 5, or to be more specific about 4.8 miles west in the West Hartford area, said Robert Sanders, a geophysicist with the National Earthquake Center.
The depth was 2.2 kilometers.
According to Sanders, minor fault lines run throughout the northeast, and earthquakes happen on a weekly basis, but only a few are strong enough to be felt.
