Sleepy Hollow Schools Locked Down After Threat Found On White Board
Schools in Westchester were temporarily put on lockdown after a “disturbing message” was found posted on a whiteboard in a district building, officials said. The Sleepy Hollow Middle and High School were put on lockdown on Friday, Jan. 10 after a threat was found written on a whiteboard, the district said. During a lockdown, all school doors are locked and students are confined to classrooms. No entry or exit from any school is allowed until the lockdown is lifted. ID Released For Woman Visiting Westchester Killed In Single-Car Crash
A woman who was killed in a single-vehicle crash during a visit from India to attend a Westchester wedding has been identified. Police said that Bina Chopra, age unknown, was killed during the crash around 10 p.m. Saturday on South Broadway near Benedict Avenue in Tarrytown, said Tarrytown Police Lt. Greg Budnar. The crash occurred when the vehicle, that contained the driver and four passengers, was traveling south on Route 9 when it veered off the roadway onto the property of the Washington Irving School before coming to a stop in the backyard of a home at 5 Park Ave., police said. Woman Visiting Westchester To Attend Wedding Killed In Single-Car Crash
A passenger in a vehicle involved in a single-vehicle crash late Saturday night was pronounced dead at Westchester Medical Center. The other three occupants of the vehicle were also transported to the same hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Several 911 calls were placed reporting a serious accident with a vehicle flipped over in the backyard of a home on Park Avenue in Tarrytown at approximately 10:08 p.m., police said.
