A man who escaped the Holocaust at a young age and went on to become a mainstay at a summer camp for more than 70 years has died. Rockland County resident Harry Vogel of Tappan died on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at the age of 87, according to his obituary. Born on Yom Kippur in Frankfurt, Germany in 1935, Vogel was the first son of Arthur Vogel, who was taken to Buchenwald concentration camp during the Holocaust. Restaurant Set To Reopen At New Location In Hudson Valley
The owners of a Hudson Valley restaurant are preparing to move to a brand-new location. Mello Dee Thai is set to close its Rockland County location in Clarkstown and reopen it at a new location in Orangetown, the owners announced. The current location at 753 Route 9W in Valley Cottage will close in the coming days, the owners said in the announcement on Wednesday, Feb. 23. The business is set to reopen in Tappan in March.

State Police have released the identity of a man who was killed while walking along I-95. Luis G. Izarra Ampuero, age 63, of New Rochelle, was killed around 5:32 a.m., Monday, March 8, when the New York State Police received a report from NYPD of a pedestrian struck by a delivery van in the southbound lanes of I-95 just north of Exit 14 in the town of Pelham, said the New York State Police.
