Man Ejected From Car, Thrown Into Ravine After Crash On I-684 In Bedford
First responders carried out a careful rescue operation after a man fell over 50 feet down a ravine following a crash on a highway in Northern Westchester. The incident happened on Thursday, Feb. 29 at around 6:30 p.m., when a three-car crash occurred on Interstate 684 in Bedford at the overpass spanning Beaver Dam Park. As a result of the crash, one man was ejected from his vehicle and sent into a ravine underneath the overpass, according to the Katonah Fire Department. Dumpster Fire Ignites, Threatens Barn In Pound Ridge
A dumpster full of hay and other yard debris almost caused the destruction of a barn in Northern Westchester after it went up in flames. The incident happened on Tuesday, Aug. 15 just before noon, when firefighters from the Pound Ridge Volunteer Fire Department responded to a dumpster fire that had ignited close to a barn in the town, department members said on Saturday, Aug. 19. Blaze Engulfs Home: Embers Catch Neighboring House On Fire In Northern Westchester
A raging fire that tore through a Northern Westchester home also inadvertently caught a neighboring residence on fire when embers made their way across the street. The blaze happened on Sunday, May 14 around 3 a.m. when firefighters responded to a structure fire on Pamela Lane in the Lewisboro hamlet of South Salem, according to the South Salem Fire Department. Man Suffers Burn Wounds In Northern Westchester House Fire
Police are investigating a Northern Westchester fire in which a man was found suffering from burns in nearby woods. The fire took place 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at 250 Smith Ridge Road in Lewisboro, said New York State Police spokesman Trooper AJ Hicks. According to Hicks, the Lewisboro Police Department and state police responded to the area for a report of a man running through the neighborhood. House Destroyed After Fire Breaks Out In Northern Westchester
A 3,000-square-foot Northern Westchester home was destroyed by fire as firefighters battled high winds and had to truck in water. The Goldens Bridge Fire Department received the call for the fire around 8:23 p.m. Sunday at 8 Manor Drive, said Assistant Chief Al Melillo. When crews arrived on the scene they found a fully-involved fire in the large home. Water had to be trucked in by numerous fire departments from a pond on Fairmont Road, the chief said. Just before 4:30 a.m. Thursday a whole contingent of dedicated firefighters responded to a popular Westchester County deli and market for a fire call but found instead burnt food. South Salem and Vista fire department were dual dispatched to a reported structure fire at the 5th Division Deli in Cross River, the South Salem Fire Department said. Quick Work Of Firefighters Saves Northern Westchester Home
Quick action by firefighters from the Vista and South Salem fire departments saved a family's home following a basement fire. The fire started around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday at 87 East St., in South Salem, according to Vista Fire Chief Jeff Peck. Once on scene, firefighters found smoke showing from inside the home and quickly determined the fire was coming from the basement. A quick response and plenty of help enabled firefighters to save a popular Northern Westchester deli and pizzeria from a fast-moving fire, according to the Croton Falls Fire Chief Dan Dreyer. The department received a call for the fire at Kingsley's Deli & Pizzeria in North Salem around 10:49 p.m. Sunday, from a resident of one of the upstairs apartments who saw smoke coming from the building, Dreyer said.
