The blaze began on Thursday, Jan. 25 around 11:30 a.m., when a fire started inside an apartment on the second floor of staff housing on the Phelps Hospital campus in Tarrytown. A burnt-out solar panel caused flames to erupt on the roof of a school in Northern Westchester, requiring a quick response from numerous fire departments. The blaze happened on Friday, July 21 around 1:40 p.m., when the Pocantico Hills and Archville Fire Departments were sent to the Pocantico Hills Central School for a fire on the roof. Several crews from area firehouses were called in overnight to help battle a blaze that broke out in a Northern Westchester home. With their shift about to end, firefighters from the Ossining Fire Department were dispatched to a Revolutionary Road residence late on Thursday, Oct. 3, where there was reports of a fire that broke out. Firefighters Work Quickly To Knock Down Mother's Day Fire In Westchester
All hands were on deck on Mother’s Day when a blaze broke out at an area home, prompting a heavy response by local fire departments. Crews from the Tarrytown Fire Department were dispatched to a reported structure fire at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 12. Arriving in minutes, Chief Patrick Derivan said that there was a heavy smoke condition, with the flames breaching through the roof. Oh, Deer! Firefighters Make Quite A Rescue On Frozen Westchester Lake
It was quite the afternoon for Sleepy Hollow Fire Chief John Korzelius when he crawled out onto a lake to rescue a deer stranded on a frozen lake in Pocantico Hills. The department received the call about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday about a wobbly deer who was slipping and sliding on the ice trying to get to back to land. Sleepy Hollow firefighters, along with Pocantico Hills firefighters were able to rescue the deer by tying ropes around Korzelius, a video of the rescue shows.
