Working Families Party Withdraws Nixon Ballot Line, Backs Incumbent Gov. Cuomo
Good news for Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Potentially bad news for the future of the Working Families Party. The WFP nominated Cuomo of New Castle for re-election on Wednesday night after he defeated the third party's endorsed candidate, actor Cynthia Nixon, in the Sept. 13 primary. But the last-minute maneuver puts the party, founded as an alliance between leftwing activists and some unions, at risk: It needs 50,000 votes on Nov. 6 to retain its line on New York state ballots for the next four years. The party voted to place Cuomo and his running mate, Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul, on the WFP ballot…

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has become an Internet punching bag from President Trump as well as Democratic challenger Cynthia Nixon following his "America was never great" comment made earlier this week. With an upcoming debate, and the primary election less than a month away, Nixon accused him of "folding like a cheap suit" and Trump said Cuomo's political career "is over!" The charge by Manhattan actress Cynthia Nixon on Friday, Aug. 17 came as Republican President Trump stepped up Twitter attacks on the Democratic governor from New Castle. On Wednesday, Cuomo said i…

'America Was Never That Great': Cuomo Comment Ignites Firestorm
"America was never that great." Did New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo really say that? Yes, yet his supporters quickly jumped on the news media and Republican supporters of his November challenger, Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro, and President Donald Trump as somehow twisting and exaggerating Cuomo's remarks. Cuomo, of New Castle, made the seemingly offhand remark as part of his rebuke of Trump's "Make America Great Again" slogan during a bill-signing ceremony in New York. But the line drew immediate gasps from the crowd. “We’re not going to make America great again…

New Siena Poll Released On Cuomo-Nixon Gubernatorial Race: Gap Is Closer Among Younger Voters
As pundits and pols always say, the most important poll is on Election Day.Even so, the latest Siena College public-opinion poll offers some telling trends in the Democratic primary race between incumbent Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New Castle and Cindy Nixon of New York City, an education activist best known for her TV acting in "Sex And The City." The good news for Cuomo: His overall lead remains solid at 60 to 29 percent among likely primary election voters. About 11 percent were undecided. Nixon Sees Path To Albany Statehouse After Primary Shocker
Long-shot gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon capitalized on Tuesday's stunning upset of New York Democratic powerbroker and U.S. Rep. Joe Crowley, saying it shows voters are open to rejecting incumbents across the state. "What a truly special night!" Nixon, best known as the TV actor from "Sex And The City," wrote on Twitter: "Excited to have spent it with @Ocasio2018 celebrating her historic win." Nixon, an education activist seeking to defeat Gov. Andrew Cuomo, was referring to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the victorious 28-year-old political newcomer. On …

Hillary Clinton's Endorsement Of Cuomo Over Nixon Angers Some Feminists
Hillary Clinton of Chappaqua endorsed fellow Town of New Castle resident Andrew Cuomo for another term as governor during Wednesday's Democratic Party Convention on Long Island. "We need leaders who stand up for progressive values and stand up to those who try to turn neighbor against neighbor and sow seeds of division," Clinton said, while never mentioning President Trump by name. "Most of all we need leaders who believe in producing results and getting things done." Clinton's endorsement is angering feminists who are backing the more progressive Democrat, Cynthia Nixon…

Cuomo's A Bully, Says Cynthia Nixon, Comparing Governor To Trump
During a news conference, on her first trip to Albany since announcing her gubernatorial campaign against Gov. Andrew Cuomo, actress Cynthia Nixon repeatedly called her Democratic primary opponent "a bully." "We've all seen it -- Andrew The Bully. He bullies other elected officials, he bullies anyone who criticizes him," Nixon said at the Hilton Albany and on Twitter. "It reminds me of the behavior we see from Donald Trump every day. My experience has taught me that there's only one way to deal with a bully. You have to stand up to him. You have to send a loud, clea…
