Woman In Distress Swimming Rescued From Long Island Sound Emergency responders rescued a woman who was in distress while swimming in the Long Island Sound. The incident happened early Sunday morning, July 18 in Suffolk County, off Shoreham Beach in Shoreham. A woman called 911 to report that her friend, Johanna Scheiber, 21, of Sayville, was swimming in the sound and the caller, who was on Shoreham Beach, lost sight of Scheiber at approximately 6:50 a.m. Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau Officer Gregory Stroh, Seventh Precinct police officers, and members of the Aviation Section responded.  Seventh Precinct officers interviewed the c…

Toys 'R' Us May Close Another 200 Stores, Report Says Less than a month after announcing it planned to close 182 outlets, another 200 Toys 'R' Us stores may also be closing, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal on Thursday. The total of near 400 closures would be 45 percent of the toy retailer's total number of stores. Toys 'R' Us also reversed plans to offer severance packages to all affected employees, The Wall Street Journal reported. The locations of the 200 stores were not available.
