Lane Closure: Route 6 In Northern Westchester To Be Affected Traffic on a busy main route in Northern Westchester will soon be affected by a closure that will only allow traffic to pass through a single lane controlled by a temporary signal.  Beginning on Friday, July 21 at 3 p.m., Route 6 in Cortlandt at Roa Hook Road will be reduced to a single lane, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.  Alternating traffic will be let through the single open lane by a temporary traffic signal, officials said.  Transportation officials did not say how long the lane reduction would last. Lane Reduction Planned For Busy Roadway In Northern Westchester, Putnam Counties A stretch of a busy roadway in the region will be reduced to a single lane in the coming days to facilitate roadway paving. The New York State Department of Transportation announced that motorists in Northern Westchester and Putnam counties should be aware that Route 9D between Manitou Station Road in Philipstown and Route 6 in Cortlandt will be reduced to a single lane with alternating traffic controlled by individuals with flags. The lane reduction will take place daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Monday, Sept. 12, through Friday, Sept. 16, officials said.

The incident happened on Thursday, April 30 at approximately 9 p.m. in Cortlandt. That's when state police responded to a report of a pedestrian hit on Route 6 (East Main Street) near Locust Avenue.  An investigation determined Karan Kanojia, 19, operating a motor vehicle westbound Route 6 struck Luis A.
