Update: Man Killed By Train In Northern Westchester Was Beloved Author Of 2 Novels A beloved author of two novels who was fatally struck by a Metro-North train in Northern Westchester is being remembered for his talent and passion for his craft.  Chappaqua resident David Burr Gerrard died on Friday, Dec. 8 at the age of 42 after being struck by a Harlem Line train at Chappaqua station at around 9 a.m., according to an MTA spokesperson.  Earlier Report - ID Released For Chappaqua Resident Struck, Killed By Metro-North Train Gerrard had been a successful author who wrote two novels, "Short Century" and "The Epiphany Machine," according to his website.  Born in Queens in 1…

The Chappaqua Board of Education announced that current Lynbrook South Middle School principal Joseph Wiener has been tabbed to head the Robert E. Bell Middle School at the conclusion of the school year. “I’m excited to join the wonderful team of educators at Bell Middle School and meet the talented students and families in Chappaqua,” Wiener said in a statement announcing his hiring. Scholarship Fund Established In Memory Of 11-Year-Old Chappaqua Boy A scholarship fund has been established in memory of a Northern Westchester boy who died on Saturday, Feb. 29 at age 11 in a hiking accident. Mattias James Edstrom of Chappaqua was born July 12, 2008 in New York City to Ivy Pool and Christian Edstrom. He is also survived by his sister Alexandra.  Mattias was a student at Robert E. Bell Middle School in Chappaqua.  He was an avid learner and loved to share what he knew with all around him, according to his obituary. Mattias loved the outdoors, skiing, playing baseball, and hiking with his family. He was a scout in Chappaqua Troop…
