A man from Northern Westchester faces charges after stealing a car from a Hudson Valley residence while the victim ran inside his home to grab a bag, police said. The incident happened in Putnam County on Saturday, March 11, when state troopers responded to a home in the Lake Peekskill neighborhood of Putnam Valley for a reported stolen vehicle. Multi-Vehicle Crash Causes Injuries In Northern Westchester
A multi-vehicle accident caused injuries in Northern Westchester and heavy damage to two vehicles. The accident happened on Sunday, Jan. 15 around 9 p.m. in Croton Falls on Stoneleigh Avenue near the Putnam County line, according to the Croton Falls Fire Department. The drivers of the vehicles were injured and their vehicles were damaged, with one car losing a wheel and another nearly slamming into a fence after leaving the road. Eventually, the vehicles were towed away and the scene was cleared within a half hour, firefighters said.

An animal shelter in Northern Westchester has asked the community for information after a dog was found chained to the shelter's front door. Adopt-a-Dog in Armonk said in an announcement on Monday, Nov. 7, that the dog was abandoned at the shelter in the early hours of Saturday, Nov. 5. An increase in the use of counterfeit money has been reported in Putnam County. Currently, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office is investigating several cases in which counterfeit $100 bills are being used to make smaller purchases at convenience stores, drug stores, and eateries, the department said. A contractor found himself in a precarious position this week when he accidentally got locked at a job site in North Castle. Two From Northern Westchester Injured In Route 9 Crash
Three local residents injured in a head-on crash on Route 9 had to be airlifted to Westchester Medical Center, officials said. The crash occurred around 5 p.m. Wednesday when a vehicle driving south veered into the oncoming lane and struck a northbound car, said state police.
