Parents Will Be Held Accountable If They Violate Rockland State Of Emergency, County Exec Says Under Rockland County's new state of emergency addressing the "measles outbreak,"  parents could face a misdemeanor charge and be fined if their unvaccinated child violates the declaration. Under the countywide state of emergency, which went into effect on Wednesday, March 27, anyone who is under 18 years of age and unvaccinated against the measles will be barred from public places until the declaration expires in 30 days or until they receive the MMR vaccination. Ben Klein of Monsey was indicted by a grand jury on eight counts of offering false information for filing for not properly maintaining a fire alarm at a restaurant in the village of Spring Valley, said the Rockland County District Attorney's Office. Westchester Gymnastics Coach Charged With Several Sex Offenses A popular local gymnastics coach who owned gyms across the area has been arrested on five counts of sexual conduct against a child under 13, according to Ramapo police. Police said Joseph Lewin, 67, of Port Chester, also known as Joseph Lewandoski in the 1990s, abused children from 2001 to 2014. They also suspect that he may have sexually abused teens 16 and up as well. The New York State Office of Public Safety issued an alert on Monday regarding 36-year-old Adrian Gokaj, who was last seen near Dunnigan Drive in Pomona on April 15, 2016. According to officials, Gokaj suffers from bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and may be confused or disoriented.
