Alda Haravon, 91, Was Vital Part Of Pleasantville Community For Years It is with both gratitude for a life well-lived and great sadness for our loss that Anita Haravon and the Haravon Collins family announce the death of Alda Haravon. Surrounded by family members, the angels took Alda peacefully on Nov. 10 at Oaknoll Retirement Residence in Iowa City, Iowa. Alda was born on Dec. 4, 1928, in Bucharest, Romania, to Beatrice Berkowitz Saporta and Senor Saporta. School officials in Pleasantville are investigating an “inappropriate and unacceptable” promposal that involved students and prompted a letter to the community from High School Principal Joseph Palumbo. Man From Northern Westchester Sentenced For Murder Of Pot Farmer A 27-year-old area man has been sentenced for his part in the marijuana robbery and throat-slashing murder of a man in 2016. Michael Andrew Kane of Pleasantville was sentenced to 14 years in state prison on Friday in California, according to the Mendocino County District Attorney's Office.
