Brian Laundrie Took Responsibility For Gabby Petito’s Death, FBI Announces Brian Laundrie took responsibility for the death of his 22-year-old fiancé and fellow Long Island native, Gabby Petito, the FBI announced on Friday, Jan. 21. The 24-year-old Laundrie was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Wednesday, Oct. 20 in a nature reserve near his home in North Port, Florida.  "Investigators found human remains later confirmed to be Mr. Laundrie, along with a backpack, notebook, and a revolver," the FBI said in a statement. Federal Arrest Warrant Issued For Missing Fiancé In Gabby Petito Homicide Investigation An arrest warrant has been issued for Brian Laundrie following the death of his fiancée and fellow Long Island native Gabby Petito. The warrant for the 23-year-old Laundrie was announced late Thursday afternoon, Sept. 23 by the FBI. The warrant is not for Petito's homicide itself, but "is related to activities occurring after the death of Gabby Petito and not related to her actual demise," the FBI said. Body Found In Forest Officially ID'd As Gabby Petito, Manner Of Death Ruled Homicide The body found in a Wyoming national park over the weekend has officially been identified as missing New York woman Gabby Petito. The Teton County Coroner Brent Blue confirmed the identification, according to an announcement from the FBI late Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 21. The FBI said the coroner's initial determination for Petito's manner of death is homicide, and the cause of her death remains pending final autopsy results.
