A Hudson Valley district attorney has issued an alert about a recent increase in high school students experiencing medical emergencies after vaping unregulated substances. Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler announced on Tuesday, March 15, that the county has seen an "alarming increase" in Orange County High School students overdosing after ingesting a variety of substances, such as synthetic marijuana and substances purporting to contain THC or CBD oils, through electronic cigarettes. Two Police Officers Escape Serious Injury During Crash In Westchester
Two police officers escaped serious injuries after being plowed into by another vehicle while responding to a medical emergency in Westchester. The crash took place around 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 4, when two Yonkers police officers were responding to a medical emergency in the area of Tuckahoe Road. According to Sgt. John Viviano, of the Yonkers Police, the crash occurred when another vehicle turned into the police cruiser, which had on full emergency lights and sirens. Police intervention was required in Mount Kisco when a man needed to be hospitalized while dealing with debilitating headaches. Officers from the Westchester County Police Department were dispatched to Beverly Road on Thursday, Sept. 27, where there was a report of a man who had passed out behind the wheel of a car. A scary scene unfolded in Rockland County on Monday, when a driver suffered a medical episode and went ping-ponging against several cars before coming to a rest when his truck struck a Suffern home.
