Here's Why A New U-Turn On Busy Highway Will Save Lives In Westchester County A newly-completed U-turn on a Westchester County highway is expected to make it much easier for first responders to save lives, officials said.  The new U-turn, located by Exit 17 on Interstate 95 in Mamaroneck, will help fire officials and other first responders more quickly reach emergencies, according to the New York Thruway Authority, which announced the completion of the U-turn on Wednesday, Dec. 14.  The project was started to benefit emergency vehicles that historically had difficulty crossing the three lanes of southbound I-95 to reach emergencies on the highway's northbound lanes.…

The initiative to upgrade the plazas was first mentioned in by Gov. Andrew Cuomo during his 2018 State of the State address. New Cashless Tolls Coming To Westchester: Here's When, Where As a record number of Americans prepare to travel for the holiday season, more cashless tolls are coming to the New York Thruway in the Hudson Valley. The New York State Thruway Authority announced that the toll plazas on I-95 in New Rochelle and I-87 in Spring Valley will soon be outfitted with cashless tolling technology. Motorists will no longer have to wait at the gate to pay or scan their E-Z Pass.
