Covid-19: Pandemic Taking Toll At Maryknoll, A Dozen Deaths Of Priests, Nuns Reported A religious community in the area has been hit particularly hard by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. At least three nuns and nine priests have died at the Maryknoll religious community in Ossining due to COVID-19, while dozens of other staff members have tested positive for the virus. In total, in the missionary of more than 300 sisters, approximately 10 percent have tested positive for the virus, and have been quarantined since their positive tests were confirmed. Mary Elizabeth Keyser, 98, Maryknoll Sister For 80 Years Sister Mary Elizabeth Keyser, 98, died on Tuesday, July 24 at the Maryknoll Sisters Center in Ossining.  She had been a Maryknoll Sister for 80 years. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 27 in the Main Chapel at the Maryknoll Sisters Center, 10 Pinesbridge Road, Ossining. Interment will follow in the Maryknoll Sisters Cemetery on the Center grounds. Mary Elizabeth was born in Philadelphia, PA, on May 3, 1920, to Della (Haney) Keyser and Henry Nelson Keyser. Vivian Votruba, 98, Provided Medical Care As Longtime Maryknoll Sister Vivian Votruba, 98, a Maryknoll Sister who provided medical care in many countries for decades, died on Thursday, March 22, at the Maryknoll Sisters Center. Sister Vivian was born in Minneapolis, Minn. on Jan. 3, 1920 to Irma (Cosgrove) Votruba and August Votruba. She had two brothers, John and William, all have predeceased her. In 1937, she graduated from Villa Sancta Scholastica High School in Duluth, Minn. She attended the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn. to begin the process of earning her Bachelor of Science Degree. On July 2, 1940 she entered the Maryknoll Sisters Novitiate…
